ABOUT LAURA

Laura Palmer Edwards, born in 1955 in Queens, New York, has doodled her way through her life. Her early love of all-things-art emerged in her youth, lay dormant in her 20s and 30s, and reemerged in her mid-40s with a bang. It was trauma that propelled her pursuit of an art career in mid-life, just as it had caused an art hiatus in early adulthood. Complexity and experimentation are hallmarks of her art-making.

Abstractions culled from life experiences, she works with mixed media materials in her thorough exploration of the potentiality of every aspect…color, line, shape, contour, texture, body language, patterning, and the interplay of mixed media. The root of much of her work speaks of life’s contradictions and is intended as an instigator of thought.

She paints with acrylic, alcohol inks, and encaustic wax. In addition, she enjoys all aspects of printmaking, intaglio and mono printing, and her specialty, creating collages using papers she created.
